As a SLP, as well as a parent of a child on the severe end of the Autism Spectrum, I found the course content to be relevant, informative & reassuring. I especially appreciated the stressed point that it's "important to understand where the parents are coming from & what their concerns are". Additionally, I agree entirely with the point that we must establish "functional goals for meaningful progress"!!!

The 5 stragies for evaulating was interesting. I do feel one must find a test(s) or program(s), that fit the child but not try to fit the child into a program. Other screeners I have used that I feel are very good for early intervention and young school age children. Hawaii Early Learning Profile,Developmental Programming for Infants and Young Children and the Non-Speech Test.

Very organized information. Stated at the beginning that there would be 5 tips/strategies, then went through each one in a list format, which was helpful for note-taking and following along with the course. Then at the end, completed a brief re-cap of the information discussed in the course, which was also helpful. I like that she provides examples from her experience to support what is being discussed.

I felt that the presenter was very repetitive and that the information was quite low-level. I've taken other podcast workshops with her, and one thing that I find troubling is that she is over-the-top with self-promotion. I like the way she reviews the podcast at the end and I have found other podcasts she has done helpful; however, this one didn't meet the mark. Lastly, to give a course on autism assessment and to not even mention the gold-standard assessment (ADOS-2), is unconscionable.
