The assessment options significantly helped. I had previous knowledge of all the characteristics of CAS, but the 5-3-3 rule is extremely helpful when providing a differential diagnosis especially in an IEP team meeting along with the other assessment tools.

This course was excellent because it dove deeper into not only what is childhood apraxia of speech but also what are the detailed signs of childhood apraxia of speech. I like the checklist and the 5-3-3 rule to diagnose childhood apraxia of speech because it gives a more detailed picture of a CAS compared to a child with a phonological disorder.

In my school district we do not diagnosis students with specific speech sound disorders such as Childhood Apraxia of Speech. This course was interesting though so it gives me a different idea of how to treat students presenting with CAS. I also liked the suggestion of looking at language and fine/gross motor skills with these students.

This was the best course I've taken thus far!! It was so informative with a breakdown of really important information from start to finish. It helped me learn about the prevalence, comorbidities, features to look for, and ways to assess properly. While the instructor was very knowledgeable, sometimes information was given a little too fast so I had to pause and write notes to ensure understanding. I'm looking forward to watching treatment on CAS to feel more confident in this area. Thank you!!
