I thought that the instructor listing out other sources to support School Based SLPs was very beneficial. I try to work collaboratively with those in my district, but knowing who I can reach out to is difficult sometimes. This helped me recognize those that would be imperative in getting the necessary resources/information, as well as, ASHA resources that can support myself.

The course was presented logically and held my interest. The speaker had a very calm, matter of fact style, that allowed me to focus in on what she was saying, and not how she was saying it. I will look for other courses presented by this speaker.

It is important to look at the ethical implications of feeding and swallowing in schools. This is an area that I think is easily overlooked and more information and problem solving typical problems would be helpful. I have recently run into similar issues to the case studies but the biggest barrier to getting the supports that children need during meal times is staffing concerns. More information on that would be helpful.

I worked in the schools for a few years. I only had one student on my caseload with feeding/swallowing disorders, and I worked in a large elementary school. This course taught me that there were likely more that were more students with feeding/swallowing disorders in the school according to statistics. I also thought that I understood that these students could not provide services for feeding at school. This course increased my confidence on how I can help and be involved with these students.
