THIS COURSE ADDRESSES A GREAT DEAL OF feeding difficulties and ways to ameliorate these issues. Engaging in play to introduce new foods of varying tastes and textures using small steps is an excellent way to address a variety of feeding issues. Being aware that safety is more important when eating and trumps attempting foods that are difficult at each stage.

She gave examples for older kids and not much for toddlers. I work with kids birth to three and have kids that won't move past bottle feeding or won't move past purees. She mentioned a mixed sensory bin, but didn't give an example of what items she'd put in it.

This course offered a clear, engaging, and practical summary of feeding therapy. I particularly valued the concrete examples that made the strategies easy to understand and implement. The focus on play as a multisensory pathway to food acceptance aligned perfectly with early intervention principles and highlighted how exploration can help reduce stress and develop skills. The content was well-structured and family-oriented.

Molly shared practical examples. The only downfall I see with all of this is that food is so expensive. I work for a hospital at an outpatient clinic. There are multiple therapists working in our kitchen. Unfortunately, the cheese cubes one child builds with can't be fed to another child and the child that built with them isn't going to eat them.

When working with children under the age of 3, I am sure that many of their goals will relate to feeding. This training helped me understand how play plays a large part in helping children meet feeding therapy goals. This training stressed that when we allow children to play with food, we are giving them opportunities to explore with all the senses, which helps them feel relaxed and enjoy themselves. This training helped me understand how to initiate food-play sessions.
