During this course Jessi Andricks, M.S., CCC-SLP, the presenter, broke the topic of stress experienced by SLPs into three easily understood portions. First, she explained why stress occurs in individuals who practice the profession of speech-language pathology. Ms. Andricks then offered the three main causes of stress for many SLPs. She then concluded with the practice of positivity and state of mindfulness as ways to reduce and manage stress for SLPs in all environments.

Ms. Andricks presented this information in a friendly and casual but well-organized manner. She began by describing her own experience with stress as an SLP, and her decisions to step into another career for a few years, but return to the field. She led us in some mindfulness and positivity activities at the close of her presentation, and spoke to us as colleagues. It was a very good presentation.

Key areas that I picked up on included: to decrease stress, we need to rewire the reaction through mindfulness and positivity; Make a positive shift and make the brain look at what IS working; Include self-care including movement, meditation, journaling; Monitor your thoughts throughout the day and look for patterns; What are your triggers, and what is your reaction caused by the trigger? Can you change your reaction to something more positive. Set a time each day to practice self care.

Great content presented in a thoughtful way. Yes, our speaker did deal with a cough that may have been related to vocal fatique, mostly toward the end of the 1.5 hours presentation. Others reviewers noted this as a distraction. I see this as a very minor distraction. Overall, I really like her seminars as to content and style. Thanks for having her as a guest.

I appreciated knowing that not only are there several SLP's that are feeling the same as me, but so much so there is a course of the topic. I felt "heard" honestly. The stressors were specific to the SLP field which I very much appreciated but the proposed solutions were general. I would have liked to hear more about examples in line with how clinicians may practice mindfulness and positivity in the clinical settings. Thanks :)
