When I practiced in a hospital 20 years ago, I treated many young people who were referred for what was then called VCD. I don't treat many now in home health but this information is invaluable! I have a grandson who appears to be exhibiting these symptoms, so this is extra important for me to know. Keeping current on the nomenclature--that it is no longer called VCD--is so important too. Thanks so much for such important information!

The topic of this course was new to me. In retrospect, I believe my son experienced EILO while he was playing lacrosse some 15 years ago and was treated for asthma. He used his inhaler only 2 times after his "diagnosis." Thankful for this practical informal and for the SLPs role in treating patients with ILO or EILO.

This was a very interesting topic - I have friends that are diagnosed with Exercise Induced Asthma, and have been given an inhaler to deal with the situation. The inhaler works for one person but not the other. It would be interesting to try rescue breathing as a treatment for both, but even more so for the person who isn't helped by the inhaler.

Working in the school system, though I am working mostly with elementary school children. I was enlightened by this discussion about how some of the female athletes can develop these issues. I’ve started to look at some of my students in my clinical practice, especially the ones who are very active on the playground to see if I can see any signs or symptoms, this was a great discussion on things once again I had reckoning speech and language performance.
