I have been waiting for a course as this. I’m an SLP and ILO exactly what I would describe happens to me on occasion following aspiration of water/saliva even, exercise, or severe and acute stress. I have always and naturally used rescue breathing to help me through an episode..ILO also helps to describe what occurs with patients following an aspiration episode at bedside. They often argue with the nurse on whether they can breather or not…. This all makes perfect sense. Thanks!!!

I wish I had this basic overview of ILO/EILO a couple of years ago when a friend came to me about her son who was a swimmer and was experiencing EILO. I did some research and used my experience as a SLP and the anxiety reducing/relaxation breathing techniques I have personally used to help the swimmer. I found this course to be an excellent introduction and overview of ILO/EILO including assessment and therapy.

Love that education regarding ILO and EILO is becoming more prevalent. We all heard the term "Paradoxical vocal fold movement" in grad school, but intervention information seemed spotty and vague as to when we should be used. Thank you for highlighting our role in this and boosting confidence in treatment!
