Informative and important topics covered regarding the personal adjustment counseling side of the field. I like that it acknowledged that the personal adjustment counseling is not typically covered or talked about extensively in graduate school, but provides SLPs with the tools to begin understanding, self-studying and incorporate facets of clinician skills effectively into counseling opportunities.

This course provided an excellent overview and specific suggestions/examples for SLPs to use counseling during their daily therapy sessions across clinical settings. I particularly enjoyed the examples of what to say and what not to say to a client/family member. While I use many components of the Family System Approach, I was not aware of this theory and found the detailed explanation of its implementation very helpful. The examples of microskills questions were also very helpful.

This is very relevant to the career as an SLP! I was lucky enough to take a counseling course at my university, but I think it should be required in graduate school programs. Communication loss takes a major toll on individual and counseling in relation to emotions and daily living, we should absolutely be well versed in counseling techniques and tools. I appreciated this course for SLPs wanting to seek more information in this realm.
