What is a podcast?
A podcast is an audio-only MP3 file based on a live event or original content. Simply hit play and listen to the file on your computer or mobile device. Or, you can download the MP3 file to save on your device for later listening. You may also store this file in your iTunes podcast library by clicking the iTunes Subscribe. Please note there is also a handout to download that provides a visual reference for the audio file; we strongly recommend you download the handouts in order to have all course materials available to you.
Can I earn CEUs/Hours for a podcast?
YES! The vast majority of podcasts are offered for CEUs/Hours, but you must verify which courses are offered for credit and by which association. This information is available on the course details page. Please note that once a podcast is selected, you have 30 days past the selection date to take the course exam, complete the course evaluation and earn CEUs/Hours.
How do I register for a podcast?
Visit the SpeechPathology.com homepage and login to your account. Select Course Library from the dashboard, and filter the course library for audio courses by selecting the Audio icon. To select a course, click on the 'Register Now' button and select the 'Start Course' button.
What do I need to listen to a podcast?
- Windows or Mac-based computer, mobile device (i.e. iPhone, iPad)
- Broadband Internet connection (DSL, Cable)
- A web browser (i.e. Chrome, Internet Explorer, Firefox, Safari)
How do I start a podcast?
Please make sure you have all the needed software/hardware installed on your computer as listed above.
Go to the SpeechPathology.com main page.
Login to your SpeechPathology.com account.
Select ‘Course Library’ from the dashboard
Filter the course library for audio courses
Click on the button marked "Register.”
Select the 'Start Course Now' button once you completed the registration process
Click the ‘Play’ button to begin the course<
During the podcast, how do I download copies of the handouts?
If handouts are available, they can be downloaded from either the ‘Pending Courses’ page before you begin the course or from the page that you access the podcast audio file.
It is at the discretion of the Presenter if there will be any handouts for a given course; therefore, not all podcasts will have handouts that can be downloaded and printed out. Handouts are typically in PDF format. Click here to download and install Adobe Reader (free).
How do I earn CEUs/Hours for participating in a podcast?
You will be required to obtain a passing score of 80% on a brief multiple-choice examination. You will be given immediate feedback regarding the results of your exam and the opportunity to repeat the exam one additional time, if necessary.
You can access your test by visiting the SpeechPathology.com home page. Log into your SpeechPathology.com user account and select 'Pending Courses' from the dashboard. Click on the ‘Take Exam’ option for the course you wish to complete.
It is important to note that once you have selected a podcast, you have 30 days to take the exam and earn CEUs/Hours.
