Worthwhile course that explains the importance of visual tracking. In the school setting many SLPs also have students that receive OT and so this course definitely provides good information about how a student with visual difficulties may struggle with aspects of reading and writing during speech sessions.

The presenter really broke things down to emphasize the complexity of the visual system. I appreciated the videos and suggestions for games / real life activities that can be used within therapy sessions to help with visual skills. I am now thinking about a student that I worked with last year and am wondering if he has some difficulties with visual skills, as he checked many of the boxes talked about in this presentation.

The presentation included symptoms of visual tracking difficulties:skipping and rereading lines, poor reading comprehension, short attention span and, taking longer to read a narrative. Good to become familiar with the, ‘VISAGRAPH’ tool in which one can see how eyes are tracking!Originated from the, Minnesota Vision Therapy Center. Fascinating!

This was so important to me on a personal level as I also have a son who attended Vision Therapy every week for 3 years. It was just nice to know that someone understood and while this information has been explained to me, it has never been explained to me in such detail. The activities mentioned are wonderful, and I can't wait to use them. In the case of my students, I am a BIG believer in learning basic concepts, following directions, and often use puzzles during my therapy sessions.
