As a 2E parent, this course was 100% on target describing these kids. We had a teacher once describe our child as "swiss cheese" --they look solid from a distance, but up close you see the holes." It is very hard to get services for these kids, even as an SLP myself, because they score above average in some areas. The emotional impact on the child as they age is huge, because they are intelligent enough to know exactly how their deficits impact their life.

I really like the topic. 2e students are sometimes more difficult to work with, because they often tend to argue. This course helped me to understand that this is pretty common of these kiddos and to see it more as a manifestation of their twice exceptional abilities.

I absolutely loved this! I randomly searched "gifted" when looking for courses to maintain my PDH this evening. My kindergartener is actually beginning gifted testing in the morning. Talk about timing. GREAT information and presentation. Thank you so much! I feel so much more confident and can absolutely use this when working with students as well in the future.

This is such an important topic as more and more kiddos present with 2e. Like Angela, this is personal for me. My 20 year old son has suffered this dx. It sucks! Most people do not know how to respond to the dx, let a lone treat it. This was great information. Every school district should have it! Thank you for sharing

The course content wll help me advocate more effectively for my students. I often have a hunch a student is "particularly bright," but now I have a set of criteria to use as examples to support that statement as I advocate for support to help a student into a learning environment or set of accommodations that address his/her gifts as well as challenges.

The information presented was excellent and I think many kids, especially Black and Latino are overlooked because they are always approached as being a problem or unintelligent, they are not given the benefit of the doubt and that is due to intrinsic racial bias.

Lots of information to think about, but enough to give a general overview. I think this topic is very interesting. I am now in speech, but was a teacher for 10 years. I wonder how many of my students should have been twice exceptional, after attending this course. Makes me think there should be more training for teachers on how to recognize giftedness...

Great course on indentifying and treating twice exceptional children. Overview of a team assessment, review of records of previous evaluations, scores, and teacher observations with current testing results and teacher observations ad how to identify these students.A list of potential comorbidities of other disirders often seen along with giftedness was also provided. Now, hearing about about potential symptoms or personalities of students who are twice exceptional, I can now look back at my own caseloads over the past several years and can think of at least 2-3 different students who showed characteristics of being 2twice exceptional. Extremely helpful course.
