Although she has great information, I believe this could have been a longer course. She indicates what not to do, I would love to see the evolution of her process to write goals that are in alignment with what she is teaching. Taking goals from what not to do to a bit more details of what we should do. Great points.

I loved all of the examples and non examples given. This presentation really makes me think about how I can be more specific when writing goals and present levels so that anyone who picked up an IEP that I had written would know exactly where the student was currently functioning and what skills need to be addressed to help them be successful.

This is a great topic that needs to be discussed more with school-based SLPs. I have also received IEP goals that were vague, unmeasurable, too long, had too many skills to measure and with lots of jargon. Having clear present levels and baselines are important too. I wish the districts would "flag" these types of goals and provide training to SLPs who need help writing parent/teacher friendly, measurable and legally defensible goals.
