I work in Early Intervention, BUT, it is a family oriented program and many parents have older children. I am often involved in conversations about older kids as well. This provides me with more information as well as a way to prepare them for the littles that I work with.

This was a great course outlining what to consider while working with older clients. We usually learn a lot about early childhood development and not a lot about the development of older children. This had good information on how to connect with and motivate older learners.

I'm getting ready to go back for my second year working with middle schoolers and this content was spot on in the description of the students and their minds during this time. I am excited to explore more of the resources shared in this presentation and go back to my middle school setting with a fresh perspective and new ideas for fostering connection with my pre teen/teenage students. Wish I watched this course earlier!

The presenter has a wealth of experience and knowledge to share from her experience and does so in a very concise and pertinent manner in how she intermittently discusses case studies and outcomes. The activities and the results and how the outcomes of those activities showed the relevancy of the research and the effectiveness in working with adolescents. I enjoyed her perspective and how she presented.

Great real-life examples which gives more confidence to present 'out of the box' ideas for treatment to staff (who may otherwise be resistant, thinking it's rewarding a difficult student rather than understanding how the treatment approach can engage them, resulting in different behaviors, motivation and self-awareness in class.). Lots of nice resources to delve further if desired.

I love how positive the presenter was and the examples she gave showed a natural aptitude for responding to teens in a way that validated them as growing individuals and offered a shared experience of problem solving and working towards independence. The information about changes we see adolescent brain and how that can impact them in a myriad of ways will help me better explain to the teens and parents we work with how they are unique from younger children and what that means for intervention.

This course was exactly what I needed. I am currently employed by a virtual academy and, at my request, I have a lot of middle & high school students on my caseload. It's a new population to me, but one that I believe I've done well with so far. It was a great neuro refresher and also confirmation that a lot of the techniques I'm using are, in fact, evidenced based. Excellent course!
