This is Part 1 of a two-part series. This course helped SLPs build a repertoire of social communication intervention strategies and improve functional outcomes with evidence-based treatment plans for students Pre-K to 6th grade. Individual case studies will demonstrate how social communication disorders present in a variety of diagnostic categories. Practical tools for treatment from the therapy room to the classroom - including collaboration with other professionals - will be discussed.

Mary has decades of experience working with children, adults, families and educators from all walks of life in many different capacities. For the last 10 years, her focus has been on developing and implementing effective techniques and strategies to help students with language learning disabilities succeed in school. Mary is involved in all areas of treatment for social communication disorders, including diagnosis, program development and implementation, therapeutic intervention and professional development for SLPs and educators. She presents at the state and national level on a variety of topics related to speech-language treatment and coordinates a team of related professionals who serve students with severe communication disorders in schools and in private practice. Mary completed her undergraduate degree at the University of Kansas, and her graduate degree in Communication Disorders at the University of Vermont.
