Have watched this course, as a follow up to another course by this presenter. Though it was an introductory level class, it really helped me put into words the information that I can present to my students regarding patient centered approach. Often times, I feel as though my students feel PCA hard to grasp until they are performing it. I have printed out portions of this handout to structure a better framework to present to my students on patient centered approaches. Thank you!

Another great talk by Sarah Baar. Her presentation is once again well thought out, flows really well, great ideas for assessment/application, and thank you for the examples. This is a new thought process for me, so the examples really help after learning within the "medical model".

I'm a retired therapist- Never could understand using pre-made games and activities when you could use language the child needed for school success . And the trials and percentages just wasted valuable therapy time . Glad to see you moving away from all that.

Sarah's training is similar to the assessment and therapy techniques she is explaining -functional and relevant. Resources shared and explanation of their use is excellent. Her overview of the purpose of person-centered car and subsequent shifts in how therapy is approached for this population is excellent.

I understand it was a basic course in providing an overview, but I have no idea of how I would implement this program unless the person had higher level deficits. Seems as if many steps are missed. Most family members are not present and most patients are unaware of their deficits and unable to communicate at a higher level. Seems as if we are jumping to the higher level deficits without addressing the fundamental deficits. Also, most SNF's use Optima or Casamba, so how do I complete the specifics of the assessment report if I did not accurately assess those areas.

This type of treatment is relevant, functional to the "person" and family being treated. Motivation for both person and their family is functional, greater opportunity for generalization and improved self-ratings pre and post treatment. Implementation of every part of this person-centered presentation is evidenced-based and best practice. No more, "Why are we doing this?" Resources listed, checklists, goals, superb examples.
