I was honestly really disappointed with this class. Clinicians cannot simply replace the word "autism" with "neurodivergent" and assume that their practices are neurodiverse-affirming. The methods and beliefs need to change as well. This class perpetuated the idea that autism is a condition of deficiencies and that neurotypical norms are preferred and valued. If "neurodiversity" is included in the class title, then the class should be aligned with the neurodiversity movement.

The presenter is an advocate for this population with profession, clinical experience, heart. It is critically important in the identification & treatment of neurodiverse individuals to include informal assmts, in different settings, different days & times of day. Presenter addressed this robustly. Her informal assmt strategies and activities, resources both in the literature, from advocates various platforms & more will provide perspectives/guidance for the professional. Not just formal assmt!
