In liked the information about utilizing assessment tools in more non-standardized ways. I found when I completed my graduate program I was not confident in this area, but have gained confidence over the last several years. The more information that can be presented about this, the better.

Very helpful course in the evolving evaluation of autistic individuals and the changing best practices for assessment of other related diagnoses.

I liked the way she organized the formal and informal assessments she typically uses to assess students to determine if they may be neurodiverse. She gave several great ways to observe skills in spontaneous speech. I liked that she added the importance to look for possible trauma or cultural differences that may impact how the student interacts with others.

The content was helpful and presented in a clear manner. Gave ideas that can be used right away when trying to determine neurodiversity. I also appreciated the ideas about formal assessment tools to use but also all the informal information you can gain from conversation and interaction with an individual.

Some good resources presented, some consideration of the perspectives of Autistic adults. The fact that Neurodiversity and ASD were used interchangeably was very problematic. Neurodiversity is an umbrella term, there are many kinds of neurodiversity and not everyone who is ND is Autistic. For example, ADHD, Tourettes, OCD, etc are all considered types of Neurodiversity. Neurodiverse is NOT a synonym for Autistic.

I found that it wasn't very neurodiverse. It should've discussed masking and autistic experiences in the beginning. For example, intonation pattern differences are a key characteristic of autistic students and isn't something that needs to be treated unless the autistic student wants to.
