Course material confirmed the valuable use of mindfulness in (cognitive) therapy as a way of assisting patients to focus their attention as it puts patient in control of this "first step" so needed to improve memory for safety measures w/ mobility, etc. Being mindful is helpful and necessary at all ages and in all circumstances--not just for school-aged children.

I really enjoyed this course. It was a good introduction to mindfulness and social emotional learning. I love the examples that the presenter gave in order to explain the concepts. I felt more relaxed beginning this course as she began by having us close our eyes and notice our breathing and other things. I thought it was a very effective exercise. Now, I'm going to look for her part 2 of this course. Very, Very good!

Great reminder that we all have difficulty learning, focusing, and remembering things when we are stressed! Mindfulness is a great tool to reduce stress and using mindfulness activities (discussed in video) at the beginning of therapy sessions is a great way to improve client's ability to focus and learn what's being presented in class or therapy.

Gosh, I just relate so deeply to everything the instructor presented. I struggle immensely with the mental demands of being a school based SLP on a daily basis (even in the summer) and I feel so alone the majority of the time because of stress that is triggered by my job. I appreciate this instructor acknowledging this issue and I hope to find the peace that she has attained, in spite of the challenging demands of her job.

There were many things I enjoyed about this course. I especially enjoyed the speakers ability to not only clearly and effectively provide real-world examples of social emotional situations/ social awareness contexts, but how she brought science into her course as well.
