Great strategies. This also helped me put a word to ideas I’ve had about supporting behavior and sensory needs. For example, in my clinical work, I have used Behavior Momentum, but did not realize there was a specific term for this.

Some good ideas, but I’m disturbed by the author’s ableist and unsupported assertion that repetitive behaviors can be dismissed as addictions. Her AB roots are showing a bit there. I do not believe that any autistic client I’ve ever had — and I’ve been doing this for 20 years - was addicted to or agitated by their repetitive behaviors. It’s more likely that the internal agitation was already present, which caused the autistic person to seek out the input/behavior.

I was a little disappointed with this course. The presenter spoke with too many fillers, such as "okay" and many interjections or asides, that made the material hard to follow at times and keep my attention. I did not learn as much as I had expected; I suppose it might be because I incorporate many of the strategies shared in my own profession, so not a whole lot was new or inspiring to me.
