It was a great reminder about the power of collaboration. I'm in a preschool now and am doing most of my therapy sessions in class during center-based play activities. The teachers I work with have a effortless flow and all the kids, even those not on my caseload, are learning by our models.

We struggle to service our students. WE constantly fight with the school administration for therapy space or when is comes to pulling a client out. The schools don't tap into us as a resource. All these things were mentioned. I think this collaborative approach is best. It works best for the client as well as the therapist. I appreciate how this was laid out.

There were many great takeaways in this course, but as an SLP, I do not completely agree with providing "Behavioral consultation and support with sensory processing challenges". This is the job of a behavior support specialist and/or occupational therapist and/or school psychologist. They are better equipped to manage behaviors and address sensory needs than an SLP.

It gave ideas for how to integrate into the classroom or collaborate with the classroom teacher. Examples related more to OT than SLPs however it did give reminders to push in and talk to teachers to fully understand how to best support a student's true needs within the general education setting. It also gave the advise to start with at least just one teacher to get started with learning the skill.
