Again, how do we improve chewing. What are the strategies. It is fine to recognize chewing types, but we need to know how to make it better.

I would have liked to see more explanations re: the videos especially to go back after some of the questions. It would have been nice to see more textures with each kiddo to better understand how their chewing patterns will change/develop. This was a good basic course and helped expand my general knowledge of this area.

Liked the case studies with videos, but I wanted more straight-cut answers of what she saw from her experience rather than explaining what the viewers' responses were saying. After she displayed the answers and talked about it, I still was left unknown what the correct answer was. I also would like some treatment ideas with the case studies.

I would have appreciated an overview of normal chewing development and videos of normal vs abnormal for several age ranges. It would have been helpful to have videos of individual chewing movements prior to analysis of therapy videos. The course could be further advanced by adding in therapeutic strategies for various delays in chewing skills.

A pattern with this series of trainings is that the instructor goes through definitions of relevant terminology paired with pictures of her jaw/mouth, and then video examples with questions are at the end. It would have been much more beneficial for there to be videos of the relevant terminology and what is considered typical/functional/developmentally-appropriate chewing patterns paired with the definitions, instead of still images of the examiner's structures. I don't feel any more confident in my ability to make clinical evaluations of a client's chewing skills than I did before this presentation due to the lack of focus/examples of what is "normal."
