This course is part of the 2018 Nancy McKinley Lecture Series, Evaluating and Enhancing Children's Phonological Systems. The purpose of this course is to discuss phonological assessment and intervention for bilingual children with highly unintelligible speech. Topics will include an overview of assessment modifications and recommendations to account for dialects, selecting Spanish and English phonological remediation targets, and implementing a bilingual phonological remediation approach, with particular emphasis on intervention strategies.

Raul Prezas, PhD, CCC-SLP
Raul Prezas, PhD, CCC-SLP is an Associate Professor in the Department of Human Services at Stephen F. Austin State University in Texas. He has several years of clinical experience in the university, public school and home health settings; particularly working with bilingual children and their families. His research interests include bilingual phonological acquisition, bilingual/multilingual assessment and treatment, phonological treatment models/outcomes, multicultural issues, and school-based issues.
