I may not use this in my school setting often, but as someone who lives with severe chronic pain and ptsd, all I could think at the beginning of the course was "Oh my god, she is talking about me." I have already shared the spoon theory with my husband and plan on getting spoons to carry around to help me be more mindful. In that aspect this course will have an effect on my work. If I can manage my own pain better then I will be a better SLP for my students. Thank you for sharing!

The information presented in this course is very important, however the shallow depath and quick pace of the information presented to fit in a 60 minute timeframe made it difficult to digest and apply. The info needs to be chunked with examples, case studies, and applications to speech-pathology clients/patients across multiple courses.

Such an important topic with actual tools!!! In homecare, we recognize that so many of the folks we see have chronic pain and (and, and, and), but that seldom informs setting goals or expectations we have, or, for that matter, patients have for themselves. This was a great course to start a correction in approach.

Taking this course was a unique opportunity and privilege. It is not often that educational opportunities pertaining to chronic pain offer such a holistic lens. Each topic discussed was enlightening and expanded my knowledge and perspective on the scope of chronic pain, and what intervention options are available beyond medication. I also loved that the instructor integrated cultural and ethical considerations & spoon theory.
