The instructor was knowledgeable and organized and provided a good foundation for approaching this topic. Additional and courses are needed for this complex topic. She provided excellent resources including citations for published articles, a DLD screener database, as well as educational videos and websites. I also appreciated her clarification of the multiple labels and used in schools and in research to describe children with DLD and with reading comprehension difficulties.

I learned lots of important information regarding DLD and dyslexia separately as well as when they present together in a child having difficulty with language and reading. I also gained good knowledge on how they are very much interrelated and the importance of early detection (& prevention) of literacy abilities when a child present with language difficulties in early childhood. I also agree that an "ounce of prevention is worth a pound of diagnosis", an important concept to keep in mind.

The topic is urgent and relevant to practice in various settings. There was a lot of information presented, but the handout did not clarify some key points. Overall, the presentation was somewhat disjointed, particulalry in terms of applications, which made it difficult to follow at times. Some points were very clear, others related to course objectives were less clear and even confusing.

Although Dr Hogue is very informed in her field, I felt that she was rushing to beat the clock and covered too much material. This would have been better learned in a 2 hour seminar. More examples on the slides would help the learner to process material and more time would help process the points. Questions on the exam were not addressed or just briefly addressed on some slides, and there was no time to thoroughly read each slide.

Hearing about the research about DLD and dyslexia gave an understanding how students may present at different ages. It was helpful that the speaker connected the diagnoses of DLD/dyslexia to how it may be labelled on an IEP. I do wish that a little more of the time was dedicated to how this information can impact how we conduct assessment and treatment.

Speaker was reading/speaking rapidly. Suggest less material with clearer key points. Also, certain exam questions could have been better covered in the course orally or be present on slides for review. Question 5 especially there are numerous new state laws related to reading instruction, so the answer choices of dyslexia, dyslexia & other LD, and reading comprehension can be equally correct.

The professor was SO KNOWLEDGEABLE and shared so much information, including valuable resources. However, she presented at a very fast rate, which made it hard to take detailed notes while following along. This particular seminar would have been better if it were slowed down and presented in 2 hours instead of 1 hour. Other than that, I loved it and will watch the replay to fill in the gaps in my notes.

EXCELLENT. I don't know much at all about this topic and it was very informative. I have examples I'll use with a couple of my adult clients (the gopher story and importance of context). Presenter was excellent. The pace (for me--someone without much background in this topic) was rather rapid. I believe Dr. Hogan had more than enough content for 2(+) hours or workshop. This should be a topic for further exploration. And I would sign up for it readily

This course contained critical information for the SLP in the schools. The speaker was very very knowledgeable on the topic and it seemed that every bit of information was crucial for the understanding of LDL and literacy.
