Presenter was very well spoken with an orderly presentation of material. My eyes were opened to the impact an adverse event has upon the patient and his/her caregiver(s) in terms of decisions having to be made about their quality of life. Thanks for the enlightenment!

Good descriptions of the challenges faced by all parties in the team. Great job describing how all patients and caregivers don't necessarily understand with your first explanation and you need to provide simple language, leading with the most important information, in a concise manner with visual supports. And document!!!

Great information that I was able to use just hours after I completed the course, upon arriving to my SNF and educating the family of a new patient with severe dysphagia. I asked more questions, used simple language, and didn’t overload them with information. I felt like using these techniques during our first encounter really helped set up a good rapport from day one.

Presenter gave a a very informative talk covering both the caregiver and slp side of informing patients of recommendations and results and what the caregiver might or might not hear. issues covering the rights of the caregiver were reviewed with the concerns and attempts to convey information at an 8th grade level, plain language, to help educate caregivers fully. Excellent discussion of what to do when recommending NPO and caregivers want to feed with case studies to contemplate.
