I realize that the course was on low tech, but the lack of reason why you would use rather than a robust system made it sound like low tech was fine. This came across as old information. Low tech has a place, but this course did not address how to use with a robust system, which would leave students stuck in low tech options.

The content was fine.Rather the speaker was difficult to remain engaged in because of the frequent um, ah, pauses and interjections during her speaking. Polishing the speaking style would really make the information more engaging and the listening less effortful on the part of the listener. Additionally, for this topic, slides with more photos of different items being discussed , or videos to show usage , may have added to the ease of listening to the speaker as well.

The information was great and well organized on the slides. However, the voice / cards only was not engaging. Given how visual the topic is, a few visual examples would have made this more interesting. To be fair, I am very experienced, I would be apt to recommend this to teachers and assistants who are new to AAC.

I enjoyed this course because it highlights the benefits of low and high tech AAC use within the classroom to enhance independence in communication. It was a refresher that real objects are the first step to vocabulary representation. Photographs are incorporated to enhance associations of vocabulary. I believe my biggest challenge with incorporating AAC within the classroom is lack of paraeducator education, along with lack of accessibility.
