This course will focus on advances in the last seven years related to implementation of augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) strategies for people with aphasia. Although the review of foundational concepts will be provided, the majority of the course will focus on current evidence for designing interfaces, designing interventions, and expanding AAC use beyond supporting expressive communication. This course is open captioned.

Sarah Wallace, PhD, CCC-SLP
Sarah E. Wallace, PhD, is an associate professor in the Speech-Language Pathology Department at Duquesne University. She also serves as the Program Director for the Adult Language and Cognition Clinic at Duquesne University. As the director of the Language and Communication Lab, she primarily conducts research designed to maximize the effectiveness of compensatory strategies for adults with neurological communication disorders.
