Diagnosis & Treatment of Complex Cases in Speech-Language Pathology

Our month-long series on complex cases in speech-language pathology in partnership with Rush University Medical Center got off to a great start last week with Doreen Izaguirre, Instructor and Manager of SLP Clinical Education at Rush University. She provided practical and relevant information on how to effectively supervise graduate students in her course, Identifying the Complexities of Supervising SLP Graduate Students. If you were unable to attend the webinar, it is now available as a recorded course in our library.

The Rush University Medical Center Series continues this week and throughout the month of July focusing on complex cases in speech-language pathology. Join us to hear guest editor Richard Peach, PhD, CCC-SLP, BC-ANCDS and the teaching faculty of the graduate program in Speech-Language Pathology at Richard Peach Rush University Medical Center offer insights on complex clinical cases taken from their own caseloads.

 

Play-Based Treatment: Basic Strategies for Exceptional Instruction

Also, later this month, we are excited to offer a new three-hour course, “Play-Based Treatment: Basic Strategies for Exceptional Instruction” by Meredith Poore Harold, PhD, CCC-SLP. Learn how to use structured and purposeful play strategies to enhance your therapy sessions for achievement and generalization.

Vanderbilt SLP Journal Club

The second installment of our Vanderbilt SLP Journal Club with guest editor, Michael de Riesthal takes place July 23rd. Join us from 12:00-1:00 pm EDT to hear Dr. Antje Mefferd discuss the most recent insights into factors that may contribute to hypokinetic dysarthia in speakers with Parkinson's disease.

 

Clinical Practice A-Z for Severe Phonological Disorders

We continue our “summer of speech and language series” in August with our phonology series, Clinical Practice A-Z for Severe Phonological Disorders. Guest Editor, Teresa Farnham, MA, CCC-SLP, along with Dr. Nancy Creaghead and Dr. Kathleen Fahey, will present weekly webinars exploring and discussing strategies to make treatment more effective and efficient. Participants are encouraged to have a specific client in mind to use as a model for designing and implementing assessment and intervention.

Amy has more than 14 years of experience as a speech-language pathologist. Prior to joining SpeechPathology.com in 2009, she previously worked at Case Western Reserve University assisting on several research projects funded by the National Institutes of Health focusing on childhood apraxia of speech and the impact of SSD on reading and writing development in school-age children. She holds a B.A. in Psychology from Saint Mary’s College and an M.A. in Speech-Language Pathology from Northern Illinois University.
