How can I earn graduate-level credit with University of the Pacific, Benerd College and SpeechPathology.com?

First, register with University of the Pacific, Benerd College for the graduate-level semester professional development course(s) you want to take.


How many credits can I earn?

As part of the registration process, you’ll select how many credits you want to earn. For each course, you can earn 1-4 graduate-level semester (non-degree) credits.


What kind of coursework will I do?

The content for University of the Pacific, Benerd College courses comprises individual online SpeechPathology.com courses. The number of hours of SpeechPathology.com online courses you’ll take depends on how many credits you want to earn.

You’ll need a CEU membership to SpeechPathology.com ($129/year) to access the online courses.

University of the Pacific, Benerd College courses offered through SpeechPathology.com are graduate-level semester (non-degree) professional development courses. They were developed to support the professional growth of school-based SLPs.


What else do I need to do to earn credits?

After you finish your coursework, you’ll send a reflection report and a list of your completed online courses to SpeechPathology.com.

To receive 1 credit, you must:

1) Complete 15 hours of online SpeechPathology.com courses
2) Pass the exam for each online course with score of 80% or better (open notes)
3) Submit a 1-page (minimum 500 words), single-spaced narrative reflection report summarizing how the individual courses will contribute to your  professional development
4) Submit a list of your completed online courses

To receive 2 credits, you must:

1) Complete 30 hours of online SpeechPathology.com courses
2) Pass the exam for each online course with score of 80% or better (open notes)
3) Submit a 1.5-page (minimum 750 words), single-spaced narrative reflection report summarizing how the individual courses will contribute to your professional development
4) Submit a list of your completed online courses

To receive 3 credits, you must:

1) Complete 45 hours of online SpeechPathology.com courses
2) Pass the exam for each online course with score of 80% or better (open notes)
3) Submit a 2-page (minimum 1000 words), single-spaced narrative reflection report summarizing how the individual courses will contribute to your professional development
4) Submit a list of your completed online courses

To receive 4 credits, you must:

1) Complete 60 hours of online SpeechPathology.com courses
2) Pass the exam for each online course with score of 80% or better (open notes)
3) Submit a 2.5-page (minimum 1250 words), single-spaced narrative reflection report summarizing how the individual courses will contribute to your professional development
4) Submit a list of your completed online courses


Will my school district accept credits earned from the graduate-level courses from University of the Pacific, Benerd College and SpeechPathology.com?

It depends on your school district. Some school districts require pre-approval of courses before you register. It is your responsibility to check with your school district prior to registering for a graduate-level course. No refunds are given for graduate-level credit courses.


How much does it cost to earn graduate-level credits with University of the Pacific in collaboration with SpeechPathology.com?

The cost is $62 per credit, paid to University of the Pacific. A CEU membership to SpeechPathology.com ($129/year) is required to access the coursework that comprises the graduate-level credit courses. Your SpeechPathology.com membership will also give you unlimited access to the SpeechPathology.com online course library.


How long do I have to complete my graduate-level credit courses?

The deadline to complete each graduate-level credit course is six months from your date of registration. You can see your specific deadline in the confirmation email that you’ll receive immediately following course registration.

If you do not complete all the course requirements by the deadline, you’ll receive an incomplete for the course.


Which SpeechPathology.com courses count toward the graduate-level credit course requirements?

Each graduate-level credit course aligns with specific topics in the SpeechPathology.com course library. The syllabus for each course includes links that will direct you to SpeechPathology.com courses in the topic areas that correspond to your graduate-level course(s).

Within those topic areas, you’ll choose individual courses that best suit your professional development and learning needs.

SpeechPathology.com courses that you’ve completed prior to your registration/enrollment in a graduate-level credit course cannot be used toward graduate-level credit. If you register for more than one graduate-level credit course, you must take new (unique) SpeechPathology.com courses to fulfill the required hours.

What is required for my reflection report?

After completing all individual online courses, you will write a reflection report summarizing how the course content has enhanced your professional development. The reflection report must answer the following prompt:

Describe how the information you learned in this course will contribute to your work as a speech-language pathologist. Include examples from the SpeechPathology.com courses you completed.

Your reflection report must be typed (not handwritten), in narrative style, and free of spelling and grammatical errors as expected for graduate-level academic work.

The required length of the reflection report is based on the number of credits you want to earn (1-4).

  • 1 college credit = Minimum 500 words
  • 2 college credits = Minimum 750 words
  • 3 college credits = Minimum 1000 words
  • 4 college credits = Minimum 1250 words

The reflection report will be evaluated on the following criteria:

  • Includes the minimum required word count
  • Addresses the prompt
  • Includes example(s) from courses
  • Communicates clearly

The reflection report must be submitted by the deadline indicated in your confirmation email.

How do I submit my list of the courses I completed on SpeechPathology.com?

Complete this form and email the list to gradcredit@speechpathology.com along with your reflection report before the course deadline. Your deadline is six months from your date of registration.


How long will it take to receive my grade after I complete and submit all the requirements for a graduate-level credit course?

When all course requirements are completed and submitted, the course instructor will issue your grade within 10-15 business days. You will receive an email notification of your grade from SpeechPathology.com.

If any items are missing or incomplete, you’ll be immediately notified by the program administrator so that you have an opportunity to successfully complete the course.


Is University of the Pacific accredited?

Yes! University of the Pacific, Benerd College is fully accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges. All courses will appear on an official transcript from the University of the Pacific registrar's office.


How can I get a transcript?

The email notification about your grade will include instructions for how to obtain a transcript from University of the Pacific.
