Pearson's EBP Briefs: Memory Intervention for Individuals with Mild Cognitive ImpairmentCourse: #7391 1 Hour
Pearson's EBP Briefs are case-based courses designed to assist with using evidence-based practice (EBP) in everyday clinical decision-making. This case will examine the clinical question, “Do individuals with mild cognitive impairment (MCI) benefit from memory strategies/supports training versus no training, based on their performance on prospective memory tasks?” The related literature search and analysis, along with the resultant clinical decision and application to clinical practice, will also be discussed. A relevant assessment tool for this case is the Cognitive Linguistic Quick Test (CLQT, Helm-Estabrooks, 2001).

Christy Fleck, MS, CCC-SLP
Christy Fleck earned her M.S. in speech-language pathology in 2009. She is currently working on her Ph.D. in communication sciences and disorders at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center. Her research and clinical interests include early childhood intervention, traumatic brain injury, mild cognitive impairment, and normal aging.
Melinda Corwin, PhD, CCC-SLP
Melinda Corwin is a professor at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center. She directs the Stroke/Aphasia Recovery (StAR) Program, a community outreach program for stroke survivors and their caregivers. Her research and clinical interests include aphasia, dementia, student service learning, and normal aging.
