Central Auditory Processing Disorder: Diagnosis and Treatment

This course will provide the speech-language pathologist the necessary information about the roles and responsibility of the SLP and audiologist in identifying an individual with auditory processing difficulties who may be a candidate for a referral to an audiologist. The SLP will then learn evidence-based practices for treatment of CAPD including dichotic training.

0-5 Minutes Introduction
5-10 Minutes Scan participant's knowledge base and work environments, including identification of specific information that should be highlighted to meet participants' needs.
10-20 Minutes Definition, neurology, characteristics, environmental sound characteristics, cognitive and academic test interpretation, screening/test battery.
20-35 Minutes Audiologic assessment and interpretation.
35-55 Minutes Treatment
55-60 Minutes Conclusion; Questions
