Our 2015 Nancy McKinley Lecture Series, Aligning Literacy Instruction to Standards for Students with Moderate-to-Severe Disabilities, offered in partnership with University of Wisconsin - Eau Claire was a huge success! If you were unable to attend any of the live events, the video courses are now available. Learn how to meet the challenging academic needs of students K-12 with moderate-to-severe disabilities from expert clinicians. 

For each new registration, $10 will be donated to the Nancy McKinley Scholarship Fund.
 

 

Vanderbilt SLP Journal Club: New Video Course

Guest editor Mike deRiesthal, PhD, CCC-SLP, has compiled the third installment of our Vanderbilt SLP Journal Club, now available as a video course. Presented by Stephen Camarata, CCC-SLP, What Does it Mean When a Child Talks Late provides a framework for differential diagnosis of conditions in late talking toddlers and preschoolers. Learn how to differentiate Speech Sound Disorder, Language Disorder, Social Communication Disorder and Autism Spectrum Disorder, as well as identify risk factors that differentiate nonclinical late talking from long-term, persistent speech or language disorders.

Join us October 21 from 3:00-4:30 EDT for our new course, Ethical Issues in Dysphagia Management. Ethics and dysphagia expert Lynne Brady Wagner, MA, CCC-SLP, addresses clinical ethical issues related to the evaluation and treatment of persons with dysphagia. This case-based course will provide practical, solution-oriented approaches to dealing with many of the challenging and distressing aspects of clinical work in caring for those with swallowing disorders. Amy has more than 14 years of experience as a speech-language pathologist. Prior to joining SpeechPathology.com in 2009, she previously worked at Case Western Reserve University assisting on several research projects funded by the National Institutes of Health focusing on childhood apraxia of speech and the impact of SSD on reading and writing development in school-age children. She holds a B.A. in Psychology from Saint Mary’s College and an M.A. in Speech-Language Pathology from Northern Illinois University.
