Pam Marshalla discusses methods to remediate the lateral lisp in children and adults. Topics will include: normal production of the sibilants, testing direction of airflow, the stimulation method, the traditional path, the association method, methods to stabilize the jaw, the Long T method, the cornerstone method, phonetic placement, fine tuning the ear, methods to create a central groove, and homework activities. Methods for all six sibilants will be discussed.

Course Objectives
  • Upon completing this course learners will be able to describe the central groove needed in production of each sibilant.

  • Upon completing this course learners will be able to explain how to organize treatment along the traditional plan for each sibilant.

  • Upon completing this course learners will be able to list several methods to create midline air stream for each sibilant.

  • Upon completing this course learners will be able to describe how to alter jaw position to facilitate sibilant production.

  • Upon completing this course learners will be able to describe quick and easy homework activities.
