Pearson's EBP Briefs are case-based courses designed to assist with everyday decision-making in clinical practice. This case examined the question, “Do preprofessional SLPs and general-education students who have interprofessional opportunities when providing language interventions to children with language impairments show improvement in their IPEC core competencies compared to those who do not have interprofessional opportunities?” The related literature search & analysis, along with the resultant clinical decision & application to clinical practice, will also be discussed.

Danika L. Pfeiffer, M.S, CCC-SLP, is a doctoral candidate at James Madison University and a pediatric speech-language pathologist. Danika’s research interests include language and literacy development/disorders in preschool children, as well as interprofessional education and practice in schools.
Stacey L. Pavelko, PhD, CCC-SLP
Stacey Pavelko, Ph.D., is an associate professor and Undergraduate Program Director in the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders at James Madison University. Her research interests include language and literacy development in preschool and early school-aged children, language sample analysis, IPE/IPP, and the diagnostic accuracy of screening and diagnostic measures.
Susan Ingram, PhD, CCC-SLP
Susan Ingram is an assistant professor and director of clinical education in the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders at James Madison University. She has particular interest in best-practices in clinical training, in addition to her research area in speech sound and motor programming disorders in children. She has also served as a practicing clinician for more than 25 years.
