Pearson's EBP Briefs are case-based courses designed to assist with everyday decision-making in clinical practice. This case will examine the clinical question, “Do school-age children with ADHD who received writing strategy instruction using Self-Regulated Strategy Development (SRSD), as compared to an alternative or no intervention, show improvement in their writing skills? ” The related literature search and analysis, along with the resultant clinical decision and application to clinical practice, will also be discussed.

Jane Roitsch, MA, CCC-SLP, MBA
Jane Roitsch, MA, CCC-SLP, MBA, is a PhD student in the Department of Special Education at Old Dominion University. She is also an adjunct lecturer at ODU and the University of Nebraska-Kearney. Her research interests include ADHD, executive function, working memory, language disorders and predictors of academic success.
Kimberly A. Murphy, PhD, CCC-SLP
Dr. Kimberly A. Murphy is an assistant professor in the Department of Communication Disorders and Special Education at Old Dominion University. Her research focuses on language-literacy connections and the literacy difficulties of children with language disorders. She works toward bridging the evidence-to-practice gap by conducting clinically-relevant research and supporting SLPs in the implementation of evidence-based practices.
Anne M. P. Michalek, PhD, CCC-SLP
Dr. Anne M. P. Michalek is an Assistant Professor in the Communication Disorders and Special Education Department at Old Dominion University. Dr. Michalek studies the contribution of executive functions, working memory, and visual cues to language based tasks in underserved student populations, post-secondary students with ADHD, and preschoolers with cochlear implants. She runs an eye tracking lab and is dedicated to quality outcomes for target populations and the students she teaches through the scholarship of teaching/learning and the application of evidence based practice.
