Assessment protocols to help in differential diagnosis of language differences from genuine disorders are reviewed, including ethnographic principles, dynamic assessment, narrative analysis, and vocabulary measures.

Teresa Signorelli Pisano is a bilingual speech-language pathologist in practice since 1993. She is a Visiting Research Scholar in the Doctoral Program in Speech-Language-Hearing Sciences at the CUNY Graduate Center and the former Clinic Director in the Communication Sciences Disorders Department at Marymount Manhattan College. Dr. Pisano also serves on the Advisory Board for the Clinical Centers at Loyola University in Baltimore.
