I really appreciated hearing the early signs. That was good to be able to share with parents. In the schools, I have been told by administrators that I can't say "I don't know enough about this area, but I'll go to bat for you and find some answers." Administrators always say "you're the expert". They don't want parents to seek help elsewhere and then bill the school system for services that the school can't provide.

I work in Early Support for Infants and Toddlers as an SLP. I appreciated the presenter's SLP/parent perspective and the importance of supporting a parent's emotional journey upon receiving a diagnosis of CAOS. Her reminder that CAOS is a lifetime neurologic disorder, paired with her proud mama moments about her child who has CAOS are powerful. Many excellent resources were shared - from social media support for parents, free articles on apraxia-kids.org to in depth Prompt training.

I loved her honesty and how she searched for help for her daughter even though she was an SLP herself. My daughter needs help with her /r/ sound and I have tried everything that I have been taught but sometimes you just need to seek help from others so that is what I am going to do too.
