This course will review fundamental principles of yoga and demonstrate simple movements and breathing techniques that can be applied when working with adult patients in acute care and outpatient settings. Benefits and contraindications will also be discussed.

This is Part 1 of a two-part series on language and literacy instruction using an interdisciplinary approach. This course lays the foundation for understanding perspectives of other key literacy professionals and current trends in instruction. (Part 2: Course 9350)

This course is for clinicians who don’t often see people with aphasia in their settings, but need a quick update on best practices. Evidence-based guidelines and resources will be provided to enable SLPs to provide high quality services to someone with aphasia, even with limited materials.

This course will discuss the provision of evidence-based language therapy services via telepractice to children from birth through high school. A brief overview of the current literature will be provided, along with a more in-depth look at using evidence-based practices in a telepractice setting. This course is presented in partnership with the American Board of Child Language and Language Disorders (ABCLLD).

This is an introduction to the use of hippotherapy, or equine movement, as a treatment tool for speech-language pathologists. This course will discuss the theory and principles of hippotherapy, impairments for which hippotherapy is indicated and contraindicated, examples of hippotherapy as an effective and efficient treatment tool, and the research base supporting hippotherapy.

This Back to Basics course will discuss direct behavioral voice therapy approaches for common functional and organic vocal disorders. It will focus on therapy approaches to remediate each specific speech subsystem, including the respiratory, laryngeal and supralaryngeal systems.

This course will provide an overview of bilingual service delivery with pediatric clients, including bilingual speech and language development, evaluation and treatment, and the use of interpreters. Speech-language pathologists will learn practical information regarding bilingual service delivery to better serve their diverse caseloads in schools and other clinical practice settings.

Do we accept that disrupted sleep is "normal" in the elderly? What is understood about the nature of those sleep difficulties? This course will discuss specific sleep challenges in the elderly as well as appropriate therapist responses and treatment options. Sleep culture in residential environments, and how those environments can be improved for sleep promotion, will also be addressed.

This Back to Basics course will discuss assessment procedures needed to complete a functional assessment of common dysphonias. Special emphasis will be placed on streamlining voice disorder assessment protocols to the minimal perceptual, acoustic, aerodynamic and self-evaluation techniques needed to perform a comprehensive, yet time-efficient, voice evaluation.

This course will provide an overview of assessment and management of auditory processing disorders (APD) in children. Interdisciplinary aspects of working with school-age children will be highlighted.
