This course includes one hour of content on each of the following topics: 1) ethical concepts and decision-making; 2) universal safety precautions, including the Occupational Safety & Health Administration's (OSHA) bloodborne pathogens standard, and 3) patient confidentiality and the Health Insurance Portability & Accountability Act (HIPAA).

This is Part 4 of a four-part series. This course describes intervention strategies for adults with acquired physical disabilities - especially those with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis - who use augmentative/alternative communication (AAC) devices. Intervention is discussed in terms of matching strategies to specific client characteristics and intervention stages of the disease.

This is Part 3 of a four-part series. This course focuses on ways to ensure that adults with acquired physical impairments are able to physically access and use their speech generating devices. Strategies such as adaptations to direct selection, switch scanning, head tracking, and eye gaze are discussed, along with how to match physical access method to client characteristics.

Children with communication disorders may spend less than 1% of their waking hours in actual speech-language therapy, so every moment of therapy matters. This course discusses concepts of frequency, intensity and dosage, and presents a variety of easy-to-implement strategies and activities for maximizing therapy responses in order to expedite student progress.

This is Part 2 of a four-part series. This course focuses on assessment strategies for adults with acquired physical impairments, specifically those with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS). Assessment areas and specific tools for each area are discussed, along with how to use assessment results to match features of speech-generating devices (SGDs) to an individual's needs.

This course reviews the bloodborne pathogens standard as published by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA). It discusses what clinicians need to know in their place of employment, including employer compliance requirements for protection and appropriate infection control and documentation practices.

This course focuses on the relationship between feeding and oro-myofunctional skills, from both a diagnostic and treatment perspective. Evaluation components and treatment strategies for a variety of different types of pediatric feeding disorders (PFDs) are addressed.

This is Part 1 of a four-part series. This course discusses symptoms and types of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS). Concepts of intervention staging and assessment and intervention planning are also addressed.

This course addresses legal and ethical guidelines for appropriate inclusion of, and collaboration with, qualified interpreters in healthcare and educational settings. Important qualities and qualifications of an interpreter are discussed, as well as effective strategies that providers should employ when using interpreters in their practice and ways to resolve common dilemmas.
