This course discusses differential diagnosis of childhood apraxia of speech (CAS) and dysarthria in children, including similarities and differences in subsystem impairments and speech features between the two disorders. A freely available diagnostic tool, the Profile for Childhood Apraxia of speech and Dysarthria (ProCAD), is described, and video examples and case studies are provided to demonstrate its use and provide practice opportunities.

There is growing evidence that supports the benefit of providing care through an interprofessional approach for individuals with complex diagnoses like Parkinson’s disease (PD). This Master Class reviews current research & practice guidelines for providing PT, OT, and SLP treatment set against the background of LSVT LOUD and LSVT BIG, in order to positively impact the quality of life and function of those living with PD.

Myths and facts surrounding patient choice are identified, and appropriate courses of action for the SLP are discussed.

This course describes characteristics of twice-exceptional students with different disabilities. It discusses the SLP's role in identifying and advocating for these students - particularly those from minority and/or low-income backgrounds - and educating other team members, in order to maximize therapy outcomes and foster educational and personal success.
