Course Abstract

Frustrated with treating /r/ disorders? This course offers a new and refreshing approach to treat the most difficult of sounds. Backed with extensive research and field testing, a complete phonemic approach to evaluating and treating /r/ is presented based on the 32 different types of/r/. (This presentation will focus on "The Entire World of /r/" products and will not address related products.)

Christine Ristuccia, M.S. CCC-SLP, received her Master of Science degree in communicative disorders at the University of Redlands, Redlands, CA and a Bachelor of Science degree in health sciences from San Diego State University. Christine is an experienced school-based speech-language pathologist and most recently worked for Savannah-Chatham County School District, Savannah, Georgia at the preschool and elementary levels. She has worked with a wide range of communicative disorders ranging from preschool to adulthood.

Christine founded Say It Right in 1999. Her phonemic approach to /r/ remediation, The Entire World of R, sets the standard for efficient, successful correction of many articulation errors. Christine is the author of several books and has spoken throughout the United States on articulation disorders in addition to yoga products and cards.

  • After this course, participants will be able to identify the 8 /r/ controlled vowels.
  • After this course, participants will be able to describe how to phonetically evaluate and treat the various word positions of the 8 /r/ controlled vowels.
  • After this course, participants will be able to state measurable and objective IEP goals for the /r/ phonemes.
  • After this course, participants will be able to describe the differences between visual and non-visual /r/ controlled vowels.
  • After this course, participants will be able to list 3 specific articulation techniques to elicit the /r/ phoneme.
