Course Abstract

During this presentation, the use of ARtIC Lab™ as an evidence-based research model for providing focused intervention for students who struggle with articulation will be discussed. The district requirements for RTI and the role of the SLP will be reviewed as foundation to using the program. Implementation of ARtIC Lab™ will be presented, followed by an update on “lessons learned” after several years of implementation.

JoAnn Wiechmann, M.A., CCC-SLP is a licensed/certified speech-language pathologist. She has served, 17 years, as a campus speech-language pathologist in several districts in Texas and Oklahoma.  For the past six years, she has served as the supervisor of speech-language pathology services, in Pasadena ISD (Texas), managing over 50 speech-language pathol­ogy positions. In addition to research and development of ARtIC Lab™, she has spent the most recent years researching and developing interventions for narrative language.

  • After this course, participants will be able to describe which students are appropriate for RTI verses those who need to be referred for special education evaluation.
