Course Abstract

This course will discuss an ethical decision-making model for use when ethical dilemmas present themselves at the workplace. After a review of the ASHA Code of Ethics principles and rules, the course will present an ethical decision-making model that addresses ethical, policy, and legal issues. The decision-making model will be applied to a variety of ethical dilemmas from both educational and medical work settings.

The real examples. I would like share with you a experience, however, I feel that I couldn't let you to know my pragmatism, my intention for may English level. I know you would get a translator:Como podria compartir con mi Directora/Director alguna mala practica profesional o una enfermedad de dependencia de un companero/companera de trabajo cuando se que esta autoridad lo usara para vengarse, disfrutarlo, burlarse con sus amistades pero no lo usara para ayudarlo. Por que la poblacion en general cree en lo que la autoridad dice?. Es que una assistente, un tecnico o una persona de limpieza no puede tener altos niveles en sus decisiones legales, eticos y morales, dicho de otra manera los profesionales que tienen un alto cargo no pueden tener una escala de valores de bajo nivel?

Lissa Power-deFur, Ph.D., CCC-SLP

Dr. Power-deFur is Professor of Communication Sciences and Disorders at Longwood University where she currently directs the graduate program and supervises clinical services.  Among the classes she teaches is Ethics and Professional Issues.  She is a regular ASHA volunteer and has previously served as a member of the ASHA Board of Ethics.
