This course validates every thing I saw while working in a nursing home environment with elderly patients. I was a new grad and I didn't know just how firmly entrenched the ideas of very little progress could be made if the stroke patient was beyond 6 months of a stroke. I also didn't realize that research at that time was so against the idea of neural plasticity in the elderly. I just did everything I knew to do to increase strength and endurance for eating and 90% of my patients got better! I removed PEG tubes from patients who had been NPO for several years or more. This course is wonderful and I hope the findings are making it's way into the universities. My school taught very little on dysphagia back in 1990. Then I was immediately thrown into working with dysphagia.. My ignorance was a blessing!

This is a 5 star course! A page turner, if you will. Exciting, interesting and most of all relevant. I will never forget my first view of puréed food or my first taste of thickened water. Gag me with a spoon! Also good goal writing tip from sports medicine. It could use a word or two re frequency of MRIs. They carry a heavy load of radiation and are to be used sparingly. I am confident these professionals used with care. I felt it needed to be mentioned. What a great course!
