Students with nonverbal-learning disabilities and/or executive function disorders often end up in conflict situations. This presentation first gives an overview of intra-personal weaknesses or disorders (e.g., Asperger's, ADHD, Tourette Spectrum Syndrome) that may contribute to inter-personal conflicts. Intervention approaches, including the use of skits and role playing and developing self-regulatory and critical thinking strategies, will then be discussed.

- After this course, participants will be able to identify underlying neuropsychological disorders and other conditions that may initiate inter-personal conflicts.
- After this course, participants will be able to identify behavioral evidence of problems in self-regulation that may lead to conflicts.
- After this course, participants will be able to describe classroom management approaches for fostering self-regulation of attention, impulsivity, etc.
- After this course, participants will be able to use skits and role-playing to strengthen the awareness of parameters in conflict situations.
- After this course, participants will be able to describe and use approaches for developing critical thinking, reasoning and adaptive strategies for conflict resolution.
