Britt Lindholm Campbell
Linda Schreiber: Welcome Britt and Rachel. Thank you for agreeing to be interviewed regarding CompHealth. For readers who are not aware, CompHealth is one of the largest providers of healthcare staffing and recruiting services in the nation. Britt or Rachel, for how long has CompHealth been employing speech-language pathologists?
Britt Lindholm Campbell: CompHealth was founded in 1979. We have been employing speech-language pathologists since we attended our first ASHA conference in November of 1990.
Linda: That's 30 years! How long have you been with CompHealth, Britt?
Britt:I have worked with CompHealth since 1997.
Linda:You have been with CompHealth nearly since the beginning. What's your role with CompHealth?
Britt: My role is that of Provider Representative. I work with speech-language pathologists (SLPs) to discuss their employment goals and then come up with a plan of action. The goals differ for each person. Some people may be location driven; others may be setting (like a medical or school setting) driven. I spend time talking to them regularly and I continually scout opportunities for their next assignment. My goal is to have each speech-language pathologist have continuous employment. We truly have some of the most respected and experienced travelers in the industry and I work very hard to meet their needs and keep them challenged in their profession.
Linda:So what is the mission of CompHealth?

Britt:We continually strive to be the leading supplier of staffing services to the healthcare industry. And we do that by providing the most complete service offering, the highest quality healthcare professionals, and the best customer service.
Linda: And you provide those services in various settings?
Britt:Yes. We have a nationwide network of hospitals, clinics, schools, and facilities. Our SLPs practice in almost every setting and those settings include some of the best hospital systems in the country. We also work with our speech-language pathologists to help them gain experience in the various settings that will help them meet their career objectives.
Linda: Rachel, you are an SLP who is employed by CompHealth. What do you find to be the most rewarding part of working for CompHealth?

Rachel Bourgault
Rachel Bourgault:This venue affords me a great opportunity to explore areas of my field and to perfect my skills. It also provides a unique opportunity to explore different regions of the country.
Linda: Are there opportunities to help you stay current in the profession?
Rachel:CompHealth provides me with a free membership to Speechpathology.com. This is an excellent way to earn CEUs. I also accrue CEU money for each assignment I work. This money can be used to renew my ASHA certification, take CEU courses, attend conventions, or purchase materials. The fact that CompHealth is willing to invest in my ongoing professional development means a great deal to me.
Linda:That's a huge benefit and says a lot about the integrity of CompHealth and the services they provide.
Linda:Britt, what would you say to graduating speech-language pathologists about why they should contact CompHealth? What are the benefits of working for CompHealth?
Britt:CompHealth has been in the industry for over 25 years. We are experts in this field. We are able to provide stability, excellent customer service, 24-hour support, a comprehensive benefits package, top pay, as well as opportunities for growth and career development. Our housing and licensing departments work very hard to meet each individual's needs while they are traveling. We are one of the few traveling companies that process and pay for licenses. We try to make the traveling life hassle free for our speech-language pathologists. For someone just out of school, this is an incredible opportunity to travel, explore various clinical settings, meet new people, and of course, make money!
Linda:Where can SLPs read more about CompHealth?
Britt:I would encourage them to look at our website at CompHealth.com. Once SLPs are on assignment with us, we also provide a monthly e-newsletter, in addition to other forms of communication that can enhance their professional growth. We make sure we are up-to-date on current industry trends.
Linda:Britt and Rachel, thanks for sharing this valuable information with our readers. We wish you the best in 2009 and hope new grads and relocating SLPs will take a look at what you have to offer.
